Is a dual action polisher safe for beginners?

A dual action (DA) polisher is the safer choice to start with, because it oscillates as it spins, which makes it much less likely to burn through the paint than a rotary. Safe does not mean risk-free: paint has a limited amount of clear coat, so you need to know how much you can remove.

The Car Polishing Course teaches you to read the layers of the paint and judge how much clear coat you have left, and it covers both DA and rotary machines.

What do you need to start polishing a car?

A machine polisher, pads and compounds matched to the damage, and clean, decontaminated paint to work on. You don't need to own a polisher to take the course, but a DA or rotary lets you follow along. The course explains how to match the setup to the damage and how to prepare the paint before the machine touches it.

What is the difference between one step and multi step paint correction?

One step polishing improves gloss and removes light defects in a single pass. Multi step correction uses more than one pass, for example a heavier cut first and then a finer polish, when one pass isn't enough. The right choice depends on the paint and the damage, which is why the course starts with assessing the paint.

What does the Car Polishing Course cover?

Understanding paint

Read the layers of automotive paint, see where defects come from and judge how much clear coat you have left to work with.

Machines, pads and compounds

Use a rotary and a dual action machine correctly, including speed, pressure and pad handling, and match the setup to the damage.

Preparation

Decontaminate and mask a car properly so the machine work starts on a clean, safe surface.

Correction

Remove swirl marks, scratches, holograms and water spots with the right pad and compound, and choose between one step and multi step correction.

Protection

Apply waxes, sealants and ceramic coatings, and know how long each one really lasts.

Practical lessons

Watch a one step polish with ceramic coating, and restore faded, yellowed headlights and protect them long term.

Who teaches it?

I'm Stefan Nikolić. In January 2016 my brother and I launched Titanium LTD in Belgrade, importing and distributing Chemical Guys, XPEL and later Auto Finesse across Serbia, and running our own detailing shop. I handled the brand and marketing side, taught detailing workshops, and worked on cars from interior cleans to full paint protection film installs. Read my full story.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience or my own polisher?

No prior experience is needed: paint structure, machines and compounds are all explained from scratch. A machine polisher (DA or rotary) lets you follow along, but isn't required to complete the course.

What is the difference between a DA and a rotary polisher?

A rotary spins on one axis and cuts faster, but it is easier to damage the paint with. A dual action polisher spins and oscillates, which is more forgiving. The course teaches how to use both correctly, including speed, pressure and pad handling.

Can polishing remove all scratches?

Not always. The course starts with assessing the paint, so you can decide what can realistically be corrected and what can't.

How do I restore yellowed headlights?

The course has a practical lesson on restoring faded and yellowed headlights and protecting them for the long term.

How long do wax, sealant and ceramic coating last?

The course covers how to apply each one and how long each really lasts.

What is included with the course?

13 lessons and a quiz in six sections, about 1 hour 11 minutes of on-demand video, an article, closed captions, a certificate of completion, and access on mobile and TV.
