Frequently asked questions
Are these car detailing courses suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The interior, exterior, polishing and PPF courses need no prior experience, and the business course needs no business background. Every chemical, tool and step is explained from scratch.
In what order should I take the courses?
Start with the interior or exterior course, whichever part of the car you want to master first. Take the polishing course when you want to correct paint, the PPF course when you want to protect it with film, and the business course when you plan to charge for your work.
What is the difference between the exterior and polishing courses?
The exterior course covers washing, decontamination and protection: wheels, engine bay, swirl-free hand washing, iron and tar removal, and wax, sealant, ceramic coating and PPF. The polishing course covers machine paint correction: assessing the paint, choosing pads and compounds, using DA and rotary polishers, and removing swirl marks and scratches.
What is the difference between the exterior and PPF courses?
The exterior course explains the different kinds of paint protection, including PPF, and what to recommend. The PPF course goes further: film types and how long they last, planning coverage and material, pre-cut vs bulk film, and installing and cutting bulk film on a hood yourself.
Do I need special equipment to follow along?
You can start with basic equipment. The interior course covers the three or four chemicals to begin with. A pressure washer helps in the exterior course but isn't required, and a machine polisher lets you follow along in the polishing course but isn't required to complete it. For the PPF course you need a squeegee, a knife with snap-off blades, a heat gun, two spray bottles and microfiber towels, and a single panel is enough to practice on.
How long are the courses?
Interior 1 hour 31 minutes, exterior 56 minutes, polishing 1 hour 11 minutes, PPF 1 hour 15 minutes and business 1 hour 2 minutes, about 5 hours 55 minutes in total. They are deliberately short and practical.
What is included with the courses?
All five are on Udemy and include on-demand video, closed captions, a certificate of completion and access on mobile and TV. The interior course also has 10 downloadable resources, the business course has 6, and the PPF course includes printable cutting practice templates.
Do the courses come with a certificate?
Yes. Every course includes a certificate of completion from Udemy once you finish all the lessons. You can download it, print it and share it, or frame it and hang it in your shop. In detailing, what wins customers in the long run is the quality of your work, so the courses focus on the techniques and workflows you’ll use on real cars.
How much do the courses cost?
Udemy sets the prices and often runs discounts, so the current price is shown on each course page.
Can I start a detailing business after these courses?
The Business course covers market research, competitors, pricing, location, marketing and your starting budget for a detailing shop. You still need to be able to deliver the work, so it pairs well with the craft courses.
